US Army to change transgender soldiers' records to birth sex

SUMMARY

The U.S. Army will revise records of transgender soldiers to reflect their sex at birth. Internal guidance outlined steps to implement this, stating that biological sex is "unchanging during a person's life." This follows President Trump's administration's actions after a recent Supreme Court ruling enabled a ban on transgender service members.

The memo requires all personnel records to show birth sex and mandates that pronouns must reflect biological sex. Access to "intimate spaces" will also be determined based on this. Currently, there are 4,240 transgender troops, and critics argue the changes harm military readiness. A Gallup poll indicates declining public support for transgender military service.
