
Denmark invests€80 million launches a new Nordic quantum initiative, QuNort
EIFO and the Novo Nordisk Foundation are investing €80 million in QuNorth to enhance Nordic leadership in quantum computing. The aim is to acquire Magne, a powerful Level 2 quantum computer powered by logical qubits.
This venture addresses the risk of Denmark and the Nordic region falling behind in quantum technology.
With support from Microsoft and Atom Computing, Magne will position the region competitively in the global market.Danish officials emphasize the urgent need to seize opportunities in quantum technology for economic and security benefits.
Magne is expected to be operational by 2026/27, aimed at fostering research and commercial applications in material science and chemistry.QuNorth will also create academic roles and focus on maximizing Magne's use among Nordic researchers and businesses.
