3 people critically wounded at Dallas ICE facility, 1 shooter found dead

SUMMARY

On Wednesday, before 7 a.m., a shooter attacked the ICE facility at 8101 North Stemmons Freeway, Dallas, killing two detainees and injuring one. No officers were harmed. The shooter, found dead by self-inflicted gunshot on a nearby immigration attorney’s office rooftop, accessed an elevated position undetected.

Police initially searched for additional snipers but confirmed no others. The unsecured rooftop reveals critical security gaps at federal detention sites. Texas Department of Transportation cameras captured dozens of police and emergency vehicles along I-35E, with both directions of the highway closed during the response.

U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Noem confirmed the attack, stating, “Details are still emerging but we can confirm there were multiple injuries and fatalities. The shooter is deceased by a self-inflicted gun shot wound.” Motives remain unknown.
