NJ election day bomb threats shut down polling sites in 7 key counties

SUMMARY

Several New Jersey polling sites were closed and moved due to bomb threats reported in seven counties. Law enforcement responded to ensure voter safety across Bergen, Essex, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, Ocean, and Passaic counties.

The Attorney General's office stated, “Law enforcement officers have responded at each affected polling place, and they have worked swiftly to secure these polling locations.” Some locations have reopened, while voters at others were redirected.

Officials confirmed that the threats were not credible. This incident occurred during a tight gubernatorial race between Democratic Rep. Mikie Sherrill and Republican Jack Ciattarelli.
