Turkey's Erdogan calls for Islamic alliance against Israel

SUMMARY

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan has called for Islamic countries to unite against what he describes as "the growing threat of expansionism" from Israel. His remarks came after the death of a Turkish-American woman during a protest against Israeli settlement expansion in the West Bank.

Erdogan stated, "The only step that will stop Israeli arrogance, Israeli banditry, and Israeli state terrorism is the alliance of Islamic countries."

He highlighted Turkey's recent efforts to mend ties with Egypt and Syria to strengthen solidarity against regional threats. Erdogan also remarked that he is open to inviting Syrian President Bashar al-Assad for discussions aimed at restoring relations.

Israel has not yet responded to his comments.
