More than 1,300 confirmed dead and 800 missing in catastrophic Asia floods

Severe weather events in Asia have left over 1,300 dead and about 800 missing. Cyclones and flooding in Sri Lanka, Indonesia, and Thailand caused extensive damage.
Sri Lanka reported at least 410 deaths, while Indonesia and Thailand saw 744 and 181 fatalities, respectively. Over 218,000 people are currently in temporary shelters in Sri Lanka.
King Charles and Queen Camilla expressed their condolences, highlighting the urgent need for environmental restoration.
In Indonesia, 1.4 million people are affected, with extensive destruction of homes. Meanwhile, Thailand experienced its highest rainfall in 300 years, impacting three million residents. Rescue efforts continue across the region.
