House Republican issues new subpoena for Jeffrey Epstein documents
The House Oversight Committee, led by Comer, issued a subpoena to the Epstein estate for unredacted documents, video surveillance, and communications. The action targets potential federal mismanagement in the Epstein and Maxwell investigations. Comer stated, “The Committee on Oversight and Government Reform is reviewing the possible mismanagement of the federal government’s investigation of Mr. Jeffrey Epstein and Ms. Ghislaine Maxwell.”
The estate must deliver documents by September 8, 2025. Additionally, Acosta, former U.S. Attorney, will be interviewed on September 19, 2025. Former Attorneys General Gonzalez, Holder, and Sessions submitted declarations denying knowledge of the cases, facing penalties for false statements. Thousands of pages from prior Justice Department subpoenas were recently provided.
The subpoena seeks evidence of sex-trafficking operations and ethics violations by elected officials. Epstein, a convicted sex offender, died by suicide in 2019 while awaiting trial. The Committee’s actions aim to uncover withheld details, raising questions about federal handling of high-profile cases and accountability.
