Melania Trump puts Hunter Biden on $1b notice over 'false, defamatory' Epstein comments
Melania Trump, through attorney Alejandro Brito, demands Hunter Biden retract “false, defamatory, disparaging, and inflammatory statements” claiming “Epstein introduced Melania to Trump.” In a letter sent August 6, 2025, Brito warned Biden’s failure to comply by August 7, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. EST could lead to a $1 billion lawsuit for “overwhelming financial and reputational harm.”
The statements, made in a Channel 5 video with Andrew Callaghan, were widely republished, reaching millions. Brito noted Biden’s source, Michael Wolff, prompted The Daily Beast to retract a similar claim and apologize after Trump’s legal challenge.
Brito accused Biden of “actual malice” in spreading the falsehoods for personal gain, stating, “Given your vast history of trading on the names of others—including your surname—for your personal benefit, it is obvious that you published these false and defamatory statements about Mrs. Trump to draw attention to yourself.”
Trump also secured an apology from James Carville for repeating the claim. A source revealed Biden leaked the letter to a reporter, indicating concern over liability. Biden and attorney Abbe Lowell did not respond to inquiries. Trump’s aide, Nick Clemens, emphasized her attorneys are ensuring retractions for “malicious, defamatory falsehoods.”
