Robot bricklayers that can work round the clock to be trialled in UK

SUMMARY

Robot bricklayers from Dutch company Monumental will be trialed in Britain to address a significant labor shortage in the construction industry. The machines can lay about 500 bricks in an eight-hour shift and can work continuously under human supervision.

With a demand for 25,000 more bricklayers, these robots could help meet the UK government's housing targets. Trials will start next month with London contractor Galostar to see if the robots adapt to British standards and scaffolding.

Monumental co-founder Salar al Khafaji emphasized that the robots won’t replace human bricklayers, but they can enhance productivity. The technology allows for intricate brick patterns at no additional cost.
