Two Iranian assassins are arrested for plotting to kill Trump

An Iranian government plot to assassinate Donald Trump was uncovered just weeks before the election. Three men were charged in a murder-for-hire scheme linked to this plot. The accused include Farhad Shakeri, an alleged asset of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, who is currently in Tehran. The assassination was reportedly planned as revenge for the killing of Iranian military leader Qassem Soleimani.

Shakeri and his co-conspirators were also allegedly tasked with targeting two Jewish businessmen and an Iranian-American activist. The Justice Department highlighted Iran's ongoing threats to U.S. citizens, emphasizing their intent to silence critics of the regime.
