Head of Muslim Council in UK urges Muslims to step up and lead AI revolution

In leaked footage, Dr. Wajid Akhter, head of the Muslim Council of Britain, warned that Muslims must engage with artificial intelligence to avoid being marginalized. He expressed concern during a conference, noting that Muslims missed previous technological revolutions, stating, “We will be damned and our children will damn us if we miss the AI revolution.”

Akhter reflected on historical achievements of Muslims, contrasting them with the current situation where they are often ridiculed. He emphasized unity among Muslims, especially in light of suffering in Gaza, saying “only when we are united will we be able to reverse this.”

Despite a lack of government engagement with the MCB since 2009, discussions are reopening around Islamophobia definitions.
