'Transphobes' are swivel-eyed, says Labour MP in leaked audio
Tim Roca, a Labour backbencher, criticized “transphobes” as “swivel-eyed” and suggested they are “not very well people.” He described the recent Supreme Court ruling on trans rights as “very depressing” and rejected claims of clarity from his party. Speaking at the University of Westminster, Roca bemoaned the “toxic cesspit” of Parliament, mentioning that other MPs are driven by "fear, envy, greed."
He saw the UK's discourse on gender as spiraling into chaos. Roca also expressed disappointment with the Equality and Human Rights Commission and emphasized the need for a compassionate conversation around trans issues. He stressed the importance of being prepared to face challenges from the Reform party. Critics responded negatively to his remarks, asserting they reflect a common mindset among Labour MPs.
