20 injured in Rome gas station explosion and fire

SUMMARY

At least 20 people were injured in multiple explosions at a gas station in Rome’s Prenestino neighborhood. A truck reportedly struck a gas pipe, causing two blasts while emergency services were on-site. The explosions were heard across the city and resulted in a fire, damaging several nearby buildings that were evacuated. The Teano subway station was closed following the incident.

Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has reached out to the mayor for assistance. Pope Leo expressed his prayers for those affected. Fortunately, none of the injuries are considered life-threatening. Witnesses described the explosions as "very loud" and alarming.
