Belgium joins South Africa's genocide case against Israel at ICJ

Belgium has joined South Africa's case at the International Court of Justice, accusing Israel of genocide in Gaza. The ICJ confirmed Belgium's intervention on Tuesday, with other nations like Brazil, Colombia, and Ireland participating as well. South Africa claims Israel's actions violate the 1948 UN Genocide Convention.

Israel has dismissed these allegations and continued military actions in Gaza, despite the ICJ's provisional measures ordering it to prevent genocide and allow humanitarian access. The US has rejected the case's validity and continues to support Israel militarily. Since October 7, 2023, the Palestinian Ministry of Health reports over 70,000 Palestinian deaths.
