Microsoft to lay off 9,000 employees

SUMMARY

Microsoft is laying off about 9,000 employees, nearly 4% of its workforce, marking its second round of layoffs in recent months. The spokesperson stated, “We continue to implement organizational changes necessary to best position the company and teams for success in a dynamic marketplace.”

These cuts will primarily impact the gaming and sales divisions, including the Xbox team and about 200 employees from the King division, which is responsible for games like "Candy Crush." This follows a previous layoff of around 6,000 jobs in May.

Despite the cuts, Microsoft's stock rose by approximately 0.20%. The company remains valued at about $3.7 trillion.
