Typhoon Tapah makes landfall in south China, over 41,000 evacuated

SUMMARY

Typhoon Tapah made landfall in Guangdong Province, China, on September 8. The storm brought maximum winds of 30 meters per second and led to school closures for about 120,000 students. More than 41,000 residents were evacuated in Jiangmen.

Authorities deployed 43 volunteer sea rescue teams and 30 vessels to prepare for emergencies, with over 3,300 personnel on standby in Taishan. The region experienced heavy rainfall and strong winds, with forecasts indicating that Tapah would weaken as it moved northwest at around 20 km per hour.
