Turkey says Russian-flagged tanker attacked in Black Sea

SUMMARY

A Russian-flagged tanker, MIDVOLGA-2, was attacked while sailing to Georgia in the Black Sea. Turkish officials reported it was about 80 miles off Turkey's coast and was carrying sunflower oil.

The crew is safe and received no assistance requests. Russia claims the vessel suffered minor damage from a drone attack. Last week, Ukrainian sea drones targeted Gambia-flagged tankers near Turkey. Moscow condemned these actions as "terrorist attacks," with further allegations against Ukraine for violating Turkish sovereignty. Turkish officials warned that such incidents pose serious risks in the Black Sea.

Ukraine has stated that they have nothing to do with the attack.
