China confirms visa-free travel for UK and Canadian nationals

UK and Canadian nationals can travel to mainland China without a visa for up to 30 days starting February 17. The foreign ministry stated this policy applies to tourism, business, and family visits, effective until December 31.

This follows Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer's visit, where he discussed relaxing travel rules with President Xi Jinping. The agreement aims to boost business ties, though it faces criticism regarding human rights concerns. The policy aligns travel rules for these passport holders with 50 other countries. An estimated 620,000 Brits could benefit, highlighting increased trade opportunities between the UK and China.
