Trump administration ends temporary protected status for thousands of Somalis in US

The Trump administration is ending Temporary Protected Status for Somalia, affecting thousands of Somalis in the U.S., including many in Minnesota, who must leave by March 17. As of now, 2,471 Somali nationals are under TPS, with around 600 in Minnesota. The move follows a controversial ICE operation in Minneapolis that sparked protests after an immigration officer fatally shot a woman. Minnesota officials have criticized the crackdown, calling it a violation of constitutional rights.
