Irish media regulator opens investigation into Musk's X

Ireland's media regulator has launched an investigation into social media platform X due to concerns over its content moderation and appeals process. This marks the first investigation under the EU's Digital Services Act (DSA) aimed at ensuring compliance among platforms in Ireland.

If found in violation, X could face fines up to 6% of its annual turnover. The inquiry was prompted by concerns from the regulator and a complaint from the NGO HateAid.

John Evans, the digital services commissioner, stated, "Today, we are taking an important step in ensuring a safer online experience for users across the European Union." The EU is focused on holding Big Tech accountable through the DSA to combat illegal and harmful content.
