Nestle recalls infant formula batches in 25 countries over toxin risk

Nestle is recalling infant formula batches in 25 countries, primarily in Europe, due to a toxin risk. The toxin, cereulide, can cause nausea and vomiting. This recall follows a smaller-scale issue from December and is the largest in Nestle's history, affecting over 800 products from more than 10 factories.

Nestle reports no confirmed illnesses but is taking action after detecting a quality problem in an ingredient. The company plans to use alternative suppliers and ramp up production to maintain supply. The Food Standards Agency states that cereulide is hard to destroy by cooking. Nestle has published batch numbers for affected products and is actively minimizing supply disruptions.
