Poll finds young Europeans losing faith in democracy

SUMMARY

A recent study reveals that young Europeans are increasingly losing faith in democracy. In France and Spain, only half believe it's the best governance, with even lower support in Poland. Overall, 57% of Europe's Generation Z favors democracy, but 21% would consider authoritarian rule under certain conditions.

Concerns about democratic systems being threatened are high, particularly in Germany, where 61% express worry. Many respondents clocked the EU's efficacy as lacking, with 39% describing it as undemocratic. However, most still support EU membership, highlighting a desire for reform rather than disbandment. The trend shows rising polarization and ideological extremes among the youth.
