Spain to probe X, Meta, TikTok over AI-generated child sexual abuse material

Spain is investigating social media platforms X, Meta, and TikTok for allegedly spreading AI-generated child sexual abuse material. Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez's announcement follows a push to hold tech companies accountable for harmful content.

TikTok stated that such content is "abhorrent and categorically prohibited" on its platform.

Sanchez emphasized that "the impunity of these giants must end."

In Spain, one in five young people report having fake nude images created and shared online. Global scrutiny of social media is increasing, with other countries like Ireland and France also investigating related issues.

Sanchez plans to implement new measures to protect children online, including limits on access for users under 16.
