FBI source says agency has 'missing minute' from Epstein jail tape
A government source revealed the FBI and DOJ possess a complete surveillance video from Jeffrey Epstein’s cell block at the Metropolitan Correctional Center, including a previously missing minute from August 9-10, 2019. Initially, Attorney General Bondi claimed a nightly tape reset caused the gap, but the recovered footage contradicts this.
The DOJ released 11 hours of “raw” footage this month, showing no one approached Epstein’s cell until guards found him dead with sheets around his neck. The video, blurred by a staircase railing, confirmed Epstein’s escort to his cell.
Sleuths noted a one-minute time code jump near midnight, fueling cover-up theories. The DOJ and FBI’s July 6 memo stated no foul play or “client list” existed, affirming Epstein’s suicide. Yet, the missing minute’s recovery raises questions about the initial release’s editing.
Bondi faced scrutiny over the handling of Epstein’s files, promising additional videos showing nightly resets, but none have been released. The restored minute’s content remains undisclosed, and whether the DOJ will make it public is unclear. The video is cited as key evidence supporting the suicide ruling, yet speculation persists.
