United Airlines grounds flights nationwide over 'technology issue'

United Airlines halted all mainline flights across the U.S. on Wednesday evening due to a critical failure in its weight and balance computer system. "Due to a technology issue, we are holding United mainline flights at their departure airports," United stated, emphasizing safety. The airline confirmed it was "not a cyberattack."

Flights already airborne continued to their destinations, while United Express flights were unaffected. The FAA reported United’s ground stop requests at major hubs, including Newark, San Francisco, Chicago, Denver, and Houston, causing widespread delays.
