Trump says MAGA has no room for 'antisemites'
Trump stated that the Republican Party and the MAGA movement have no place for antisemitic views, saying, “I think we don’t need them. I think we don’t like them.” This comes amid an ongoing debate in the party about White Identitarianism and Israeli influence of domestic politics, particularly regarding figures like Nick Fuentes.
While Vice President JD Vance has downplayed the need for “purity tests,” Trump emphasized a rejection of "antisemitic" supporters. He mentioned his strong ties to Israel and pride in his Jewish family.
"My daughter happens to be Jewish, beautiful, three grandchildren are Jewish,” he said. “I’m very proud of them. I’m very proud of the whole, that whole family. I am the least antisemitic person probably there is anywhere in the world."
Yet, he avoided directly speaking negatively of those driving the transformative rift within the party, claiming he did not know Fuentes, despite previously dining with him.
"I had dinner with him, one time, where he came as a guest of Kanye West,” he said. “I didn’t know who he was bringing. He said, ‘Do you mind if I bring a friend?’ I said, ‘I don’t care.’ And it was Nick Fuentes? I don’t know Nick Fuentes."
As the debate escalates, Trump remains cautious about labeling contributors to antisemitism while also maintaining his support for Israel. The discussion is influential as potential successors to Trump, like Vance and Rubio, whom are heavily ingratiated within the traditional political class and with Jewish donors, emerge within the party.
