Barcelona commuter train crashes 2 days after deadly collision in Spain

A commuter train in Barcelona crashed Tuesday after a retaining wall fell onto the tracks, injuring 15 people, three critically, just two days after a separate train collision killed at least 42. The crash near Gelida disrupted ongoing recovery efforts from the earlier tragedy. ADIF, Spain’s railway operator, linked the wall's collapse to heavy rain in Catalonia.

Police reported 39 fatalities in Sunday’s high-speed rail accident, where a train derailed and hit an oncoming train. Investigations are ongoing, with all possibilities considered as officials assess broken track sections.

King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia visited the crash site to support rescue efforts and offer condolences.
