Two British activists detained in France over anti-migrant campaigning

SUMMARY

French authorities arrested two British nationals near Calais for participating in a banned far-right protest against migrants. They were detained for inciting hatred and planning violence based on their social media activity. These arrests are notable as they are the first of British "far-right" activists on these charges in France.

The men, aged 35 and 53, had been broadcasting on YouTube while advocating for limiting illegal arrivals. A planned anti-migrant rally by activist Daniel Thomas was also banned. Thomas, who claims a travel ban in France, has not been arrested. Concerns about rising anti-migrant sentiment among British far-right groups persist.
