Germany authorizes military to shoot down mysterious drones

Germany is authorizing its military to shoot down suspicious drones spotted near critical infrastructure, including military bases.

This decision follows an increase in drone sightings, particularly near the US airbase in Ramstein.

Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s cabinet is set to pass a draft amendment to the Aviation Security Act, allowing the military to act against unidentified drones if they pose a threat.

Previously, authorities used jamming technology to disable drones, but some recent models have proven resistant to this approach.
