Manhattan DA drops assault charge in Washington Square Park snowball fight

Manhattan prosecutors have dropped an assault charge against Gusmane Coulibaly, who was involved in a viral snowball fight at Washington Square Park.

Instead, he faces misdemeanor charges for obstructing government administration and harassment.

Prosecutors explained they couldn't prove that an officer was physically injured by Coulibaly's actions.

Coulibaly was released on supervised release after his arraignment. Police had reported that two officers sustained minor injuries during the snowball fight, which drew a significant crowd and police presence.

The investigation is ongoing.
