Qantas data with 5M customer records leaked by hackers after missed ransom deadline

Hackers have leaked the personal records of 5 million Qantas customers after a ransom deadline passed. The hacker group, Scattered Lapsus$ Hunters, claimed responsibility, demanding payment to prevent data sharing.

The stolen information included email addresses, phone numbers, and birth dates, but not financial details. Qantas was among 40 companies affected by this large breach, which could involve up to 1 billion records. Experts warn that while no financial data was involved, personal information could still be exploited.

Qantas offers support to those impacted, while Salesforce stated it would not negotiate with the hackers.
