Russia successfully tests its new Sarmat missile

Russia announced plans to deploy its newly tested Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missiles by autumn. Dmitry Rogozin, head of the Roscosmos space agency, indicated this goal follows the missile's first test-launch.

The Sarmat can carry over ten nuclear warheads, capable of hitting targets in the U.S. or Europe. Its development, delayed for years, signifies Russia's show of strength amid rising tensions due to the Ukraine war.

Rogozin stated the missiles would be stationed in Siberia, utilizing existing silos. He described the launch as a historic event ensuring Russia's future security. Concerns about nuclear conflict have escalated since the Ukraine invasion.
