Oklahoma to test out-of-state teachers for 'radical leftist ideology'

Oklahoma will require teachers from California and New York to pass a test aimed at preventing "radical leftist ideology," according to state education officials. The assessment, created by conservative nonprofit PragerU, founded by Dennis Prager, will become mandatory for certification of out-of-state applicants. Oklahoma's superintendent, Ryan Walters, stated, “As long as I am superintendent, Oklahoma classrooms will be safeguarded from the radical leftist ideology...”

Critics describe the test as a “MAGA loyalty test” and express concern it will deter teachers amidst a significant shortage. The test includes questions about the U.S. Constitution. Opponents argue this requirement undermines democratic principles in education.
