John Bolton pleads not guilty to classified documents charges

SUMMARY

Former Trump national security adviser John Bolton pleaded not guilty to 18 counts related to the unlawful retention and dissemination of national defense information. He was indicted by a federal grand jury in Maryland.

Bolton faces eight counts of unlawful transmission and ten counts of unlawful retention of classified documents. Allegations include sharing "more than a thousand pages" of information with family members, referred to as "Individual 1" and "Individual 2."

Federal agents previously searched Bolton's home and office for classified information in August. This indictment follows other indictments involving notable figures connected to Donald Trump.
