GROUNDED PLANES

All planes grounded at London airports

SUMMARY

London's airspace is closed due to a technical failure. Eurocontrol reported that the area is “temporarily unavailable due to technical issues.” The problem started earlier this afternoon.

NATS, the air traffic control authority, confirmed the issue but did not provide a timeline for resolution.

A spokesperson stated, “As a result of a technical issue at NATS Swanwick air traffic control centre, we are limiting the number of aircraft flying in the London control area in order to ensure safety.”

This comes days after Russian owned Aeroflot airline was hit by a nationwide cyber attack with over 100 flights grounded or cancelled. Apologies were given for any delays, and engineers are working to fix the issue. Travelers are advised to check with airlines for flight status updates.
