Trump is 'among many' in the Epstein files
In May 2025, Attorney General Pam Bondi informed President Donald Trump that his name appears multiple times in Jeffrey Epstein’s documents, alongside many other high-profile figures. Senior administration officials clarified that being named does not indicate wrongdoing.
The briefing, described as routine, covered various topics, with Trump’s mention in the files not being the primary focus. The documents, reviewed earlier this year, contain unverified hearsay about individuals, including Trump, who socialized with Epstein in the past.
The Justice Department decided against releasing additional Epstein files due to the presence of child pornography and the need to protect victims’ personal information. Bondi stated in February that Epstein’s client list was under review, but a July 7 memo confirmed no client list or evidence warranting further investigation was found.
Trump supported the decision to withhold the files, though he later claimed Bondi did not inform him of his name’s inclusion. The decision sparked backlash from Trump’s base, who viewed it as a betrayal. On July 18, a message demanding the files’ release was projected on the U.S. Chamber of Commerce building.
The White House dismisses the WSJ report claiming Trump was told his name appears in Epstein files as “fake news.”
