SUMMARY

Typhoon Kalmaegi has devastated the Philippines, leading to at least 114 fatalities and 127 people still missing. The storm hit Tuesday with winds up to 87 mph. A state of emergency has been declared by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. due to severe flooding, particularly in Cebu, where 71 deaths occurred.

Approximately two million people have been affected, with over 560,000 displaced. Tragically, six people died in an air force helicopter crash while delivering aid. The Philippines faces frequent natural disasters, with around 20 typhoons and numerous earthquakes each year.
