Freedom of expression in danger in Germany

SUMMARY

A recent INSA survey reveals that 84% of respondents believe people withhold opinions due to fear of consequences. Only 9% disagree. A significant 54% have personally felt unable to express their opinions freely. This perception is rising, with a 6% increase since the last survey eight months ago.

Younger individuals, especially those under 30, report feeling stifled more than older ones. Among party supporters, AfD voters (76%) feel the most restricted. The issue of free speech could become as pivotal as migration and pandemic discussions. The survey emphasizes the need for fostering a culture of open dialogue and diverse opinions.
