Netanyahu's school petitions to remove him from hall of fame
SUMMARY
Students at Cheltenham High School in Pennsylvania have started a petition to remove Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu’s portrait from their hall of fame. Over 200 students, about 14% of the student body, signed the petition due to ongoing corruption charges and an International Criminal Court arrest warrant for war crimes against him.
The students expressed concerns that recognizing Netanyahu sets a poor example. Alumni association members were scheduled to discuss the petition with school officials. Netanyahu, a 1967 graduate, was inducted in 1999. His brother, Yonatan, was honored posthumously for his heroism.
The alumni secretary indicated some board members prefer keeping Netanyahu's portrait with updates in his biography.
