China's astronauts complete cave training amid preparations for moon missions

SUMMARY

China's astronaut corps has finished a month-long cave training in Chongqing, aimed at preparing for future lunar missions. A team of 28 astronauts trained onsite, simulating cold, humid conditions for six days and five nights. This program included cave mapping, environmental monitoring, and psychological training, alongside emergency response drills.

Instructor Jiang Yuan noted that the experience will aid in establishing support systems for long-duration space missions. Ye Guangfu, a program director, emphasized the challenges of "solitude and unknowns." China plans to land astronauts on the moon before 2030, with additional missions and the International Lunar Research Station in the works.
