NHL becomes first league to strike deal with Kalshi and Polymarket

The NHL has partnered with Kalshi and Polymarket, becoming the first major American sports league to collaborate with prediction market platforms. This agreement allows users to buy and sell event outcome contracts, operating under CFTC oversight across all 50 states. Both companies can now use NHL logos and will gain visibility during broadcasts, including the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Kalshi and Polymarket's success comes amid growing competition from traditional sportsbooks like DraftKings. Concerns have been raised about prediction markets bypassing local betting laws. Kalshi's CEO stated, “Teaming up with the NHL is an important milestone... prediction markets are here to stay.”
