A man tried to break Luigi Mangione out of jail by posing as an FBI agent
SUMMARY
A Minnesota man, Mark Anderson, was charged with impersonating a federal agent in an attempt to break Luigi Mangione out of jail in Brooklyn. Anderson claimed he had a judge's signed paperwork authorizing Mangione's release from the Metropolitan Detention Center. Mangione is awaiting trial for the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.
When questioned by prison personnel, Anderson presented a Minnesota driver's license and claimed to have weapons in his bag, which only contained a barbecue fork and pizza cutter. He is expected in court later this week, while Mangione has a hearing scheduled for Friday, where the death penalty may be discussed.
