US military plane crashes in Iraq as status of crew is unknown, officials said

An American military refueling tanker, the KC-135 Stratotanker, crashed in Western Iraq during a U.S. military operation. The status of its crew remains unknown. Recovery efforts are ongoing in the crash area.

Another KC-135 also encountered problems but landed safely in Tel Aviv after declaring an emergency. According to U.S. Central Command, both incidents were unrelated to hostile or friendly fire.
