NY AG Letitia James indicted over mortgage fraud claims

SUMMARY

New York State Attorney General Letitia James has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Virginia on at least one count of mortgage fraud.

This follows a referral by federal housing regulator Bill Pulte, who accused her of "falsified records" to obtain favorable home loans for a Virginia property she designated as her primary residence in 2023, during her second term as AG.

Pulte alleged that James committed crimes including wire fraud, mail fraud, and bank fraud.

The situation is ongoing, and updates are expected.
