Companies cut 32,000 jobs in November, ADP says

In November, U.S. private employers lost 32,000 jobs, falling short of the expected increase of 40,000. ADP's Chief Economist Nela Richardson called the data a "slowdown" that was "broad-based."

Small businesses with fewer than 49 employees saw the largest job losses, followed by medium-sized firms. Industries like professional/business services, manufacturing, and information services experienced significant declines.

The upcoming government jobs report will be delayed until December 18 due to the recent shutdown. The previous reports indicated an unpredictable labor market.

ADP’s data serves as a partial proxy for official reports but can be misaligned with government statistics.
