US won't be able to pay military by Nov. 15 if shutdown is prolonged
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent warned that military service members might not be paid by mid-November if the government shutdown continues. He stated, “By Nov. 15, our troops and service members who are willing to risk their lives aren’t going to be able to get paid. What an embarrassment.”
President Trump recently praised a donor who contributed $130 million to help pay military personnel affected by the shutdown. He called the donor “a wonderful man.” It was later reported that Tim Mellon, is the anonymous donor who gave $130 million to fund troops during the government shutdown.
Senate Democrats blocked a GOP bill aimed at ensuring pay for active-duty military and essential federal employees. House Speaker Mike Johnson blamed the Democrats for the stalled funding, stating that “No one in the military or any military family should have their pay blocked.”
