'coding error'
Key sections of the US Constitution deleted from government's website
SUMMARY
Several sections of Article 1 of the U.S. Constitution have reportedly been removed from the official U.S. government website. Internet sleuths discovered these changes, which were noted via the Wayback Machine showing the original text. Key portions of Section 8 were deleted, along with the entire Sections 9 and 10. These sections address Congressional powers and limitations on states, including habeas corpus protection against unlawful detention.
The Library of Congress attributed the omissions to a "coding error" and hopes to resolve it soon. Changes to the website do not affect U.S. law, but coincide with earlier threats to suspend habeas corpus by a senior Trump administration official.
