Germany to hire 11,000 more military personnel this year

Germany plans to add 11,000 military personnel by year-end, an increase of about 4%, according to Bild. This includes 10,000 soldiers and 1,000 civilian roles by the end of 2025. The funding is part of the upcoming budget to be approved by the cabinet. The new positions will support armed, air, naval, and cyber forces.

Defense Minister Boris Pistorius noted that Germany needs up to 60,000 additional troops to meet NATO's new targets due to heightened threats from Russia. The Defence Ministry did not comment on the report.
