Tyler Robinson, 22-year-old from Utah, identified as Charlie Kirk's suspected assassin
Trump announced on Fox & Friends that the suspect in Charlie Kirk’s assassination was surrendered by his father via a minister connected to law enforcement. Sources identified 22-year-old Utah resident Tyler Robinson, now in custody.
Trump stated, “I think, with a high degree of certainty, we have him,” adding, “Somebody who was very close to him turned him in.” He demanded, “I hope he’s going to be found guilty and I hope he gets the death penalty. What he did — Charlie Kirk was the finest person and he didn’t deserve this.”
Robinson allegedly used a Mauser long rifle from an elevated position 200 yards away, targeting Kirk at Utah Valley University’s Losee Center. Authorities recovered a rifle, footwear impressions, and forearm prints at the scene, indicating premeditation.
The FBI, Orem Police, Utah Department of Public Safety, and university police led the manhunt, offering a $100,000 reward for tips.
An initial person of interest was questioned and released, distinct from Robinson. Utah Gov. Spencer Cox emphasized, “I just want to be very clear that this is a political assassination,” underscoring the death penalty’s relevance in Utah.
