DHS inks contract to create its own fleet of 737 jets for deportations

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is establishing its own deportation fleet by contracting for six Boeing 737 aircraft, costing nearly $140 million. This move shifts reliance from chartered flights to a dedicated fleet for deportations.

The funding comes from a $170 billion budget increase for immigration enforcement approved by Congress. DHS spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin stated the fleet will enhance operational effectiveness with more efficient flight patterns.

The initiative reflects a more regular and visible approach to deportation operations under the Trump administration's immigration agenda.
